UW Real Estate Program |
The University of Wisconsin Madison Real Estate Program The Real Estate program at the Wisconsin School of Business is comprised of the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate and Urban Land Economics and the Department of Real Estate. The UW-Madison's program in real estate provides concentrated course work in all aspects of the real estate enterprise. The program is internationally renowned for its ability to develop real estate professionals with superb analytical skills. Many of the graduates of the program go on to work as managers of and advisors to pension funds, insurance companies, real estate investment trusts, and investment banks. Other graduates of the program go on to take public and private industry jobs in real estate development, appraisal, corporate real estate asset management, and real estate analysis. The Center for Real Estate and Urban Land Economics was created in 1971 to foster excellence in real estate education, research and outreach through community and professional partnerships. The Center was renamed in 2007 in honor of the late James A. Graaskamp, a legendary figure in real estate education at Wisconsin, thanks to the generous fundraising efforts of alumni and friends. Together the Real Estate program at the Wisconsin School of Business and the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate have a century-long tradition of fostering excellence in real estate education, research and outreach. Wisconsin is uniquely positioned to provide leadership to the real estate industry in the 21st century. The Real Estate Club is one of the largest student-run organizations on campus. Open to all UW-Madison graduate and undergraduate students, the club meets several times per semester to learn from a variety of guests. Speakers cover a wide range of topics including the real estate markets, development, REITs, green building, and industry trends.
In addition, the club organizes two national trips per year, usually in association with and sponsored by the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA). The study trips include tours of various real estate projects, presentations by real estate firms, and receptions with local alumni. Finally, the club assists members in obtaining internship and permanent positions through a resume book, job postings, and an annual real estate club career fair. Email the club presidents to join the mailing list for information about upcoming events.
