Student Internship and Entry Level Positions Needed

Thursday, June 18, 2020   (0 Comments)

The COVID-19 health crisis has made this one of the most challenging times in recent history for students to be looking for an internship or job opportunity. We are hearing from students of their challenges in finding internship offers and full-time employment following graduation. Our talented UW students are seeking short and/or long term opportunities to begin utilizing the skills and knowledge they have learned in the classroom. We ask alumni to consider how they can help:

  • Could your company offer a micro internship to a student? Micro Internships are short-term, paid or unpaid, professional assignments or projects that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. (i.e. job shadowing, a short-term project or even inviting a student to attend meetings and site visits for a limited time.)
  •  Are you aware of a company that could utilize a virtual student intern this summer or during the academic year? Virtual Internships are internships that are done online or remotely anytime of the year. This allows students to stay local while working for companies throughout the country. Students connect with their supervisor/team via virtual methods such as video call, phone call, email and instant messenger.

Even if a paid internship is not feasible, there are many ways that you can provide valuable experience and connections to students while gaining the opportunity to work with Wisconsin’s best and brightest students! Please contact Greg Reed at grreed@wisc.edu or Lee Gottschalk at lee.gottschalk@wisc.edu to share an opportunity.
