Real Estate Club's Innovator Award Presented to Robert Bond of Bond Companies

Posted By Maria-Elena Svigos, Blue Vista Capital Management, Tuesday, April 2, 2019

Students, alumni, friends and faculty assembled at the Pyle Center last Thursday, March 28, for the presentation of the Innovator Award.  Following a networking reception, this semester’s Real Estate Club Innovator Award was presented to Robert Bond (MS 1983), Co-Founder and President of Bond Companies by Michael Brennan, Executive Director of the Graaskamp Center.

The Bond Companies are a leading real estate development and investment firm with a focus in multifamily, office, retail and mixed-use projects and offices in both Los Angeles and Chicago. Robert is head of the Chicago office, and has been involved in hundreds of real estate transactions throughout his 30 years in the industry. As an alumnus of the program and a Board of Trustee member for the Graaskamp Center, Robert has maintained close ties with the program and has gone on to represent the Wisconsin Real Estate Program in many impressive ways. His experience in the industry ranges from development and re-development to acquisition and capital formation activities representing several billions of dollars.

Robert’s interactive and light-hearted presentation to the club was very well received by attendees.  He shared various multifamily, office, and mixed-use projects that Bond Companies have completed or are currently working on throughout the country. He tied his presentation directly to the Innovator Award by explaining each project and the obstacles he faced for all of them, teaching students how to be adaptive and encouraging them to approach each project with an innovative mind.  He also advised that students take advantage of all the connections they make at UW. “Look around,” he said, “the people around you will be in the industry with you forever. I am so lucky to call myself a Badger.”

Students and attendees came away from his presentation grateful for Robert’s words of wisdom and the lessons he provided and with UW pride in their hearts as he ended his presentation with “Your philosophies will stem from the principles learned here at UW. Now and Forever. On Wisconsin!”
