Andrew Weir is a Senior Managing Director in the Washington, DC office of HFF. Andrew joined the Firm in 2004 and has over 15 years of commercial real estate experience. He specializes in the sale, finance and recapitalization of office properties and portfolios in the Washington, DC Metro. Since 2004, Mr. Weir has successfully executed over 50 sale and recapitalization transactions representing over $10.0 billion of value. Andrew has been involved in some of the Region’s most significant transactions, including the disposition of the Washington portfolios of CarrAmerica and Equity Office Properties on behalf of the Blackstone Group. Additionally, he oversees the financial analysis and market research support staff for all of the group's transactions. Prior to joining HFF, Mr. Weir was a Vice President with CarrAmerica Realty Corporation.
Andrew is also a founding member of HFF’s Global Capital Team, which is focused on tracking and accessing foreign capital seeking investment opportunities for debt and equity in the U.S. The Team, comprised of senior transactional professionals from around the U.S., represents all major HFF platform services, including private equity, investment sales, debt placement and structured finance. HFF’s global reach allows the Firm to serve the needs of its clients by accessing the most attractive capital from around the world. Mr. Weir holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and currently serves as Vice President of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association.

Jim Roemer, BBA 1987 is a Managing Director in the commercial real estate group at The PrivateBank and Trust Co. and is one of the four founding officers of the organization’s Milwaukee bank. PrivateBank is a strong real estate lender, so Jim’s portfolio is comprised of construction, term, and line of credit financings for Wisconsin clients whose projects are located in the state and across the country. One of his current deals (and the 2014 CARW Bank Deal of the Year) has him and PrivateBank serving as co-lead lender for 833 East Michigan, the class A office tower that Irgens Partners is developing in downtown Milwaukee. Before joining The PrivateBank in 2004, Jim held a variety of positions with Irgens Partners, Firstar/US Bank, General Growth Properties, and Equitable Real Estate.
Jim is a longtime youth soccer coach and current treasurer of the Whitefish Bay High School soccer booster club. He is a financial literacy instructor with Make a Difference Wisconsin and has for 13 years produced the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation’s annual summer concert. He served 6 years as Whitefish Bay Village Trustee and 11 as a founding member of the Village’s Community Development Authority.

Cody Langeness is Managing Director of Red Stone Partners, where he is responsible for originating, financial underwriting, structuring and closing of tax-exempt bond investments used for the construction or preservation of affordable multifamily housing nationwide. Cody also manages Red Stone’s investor relationships. Since joining Red Stone in 2006, Cody has been responsible for over $1 Billion in investments, financing over 15,000 units.
Cody received his Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in both Real Estate & Urban Land Economics and Finance, Investment & Banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cody also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association.
Since 1992, Christine Dicks has led the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, Inc., a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to the advancement of the Real Estate and Urban Land Economics Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As Executive Director she works with the Board of Directors in developing vision and strategic direction that guides the alumni association and oversees management of association operations. Prior to joining the alumni association, Christine served as Managing Director for Pi Sigma Epsilon, a national professional fraternal organization specializing in sales, marketing and management with more than 60 chapters. She earned a B.B.A. from the University of Illinois.

Brian Berry is President of Oak Point Investors, a commercial real estate investment and advisory firm based in Washington DC. Over a 26 year career, Brian has been instrumental in completing $8B of real estate investment transactions. He has extensive investment, joint venture, finance, operating, development, and turn around experience. Brian successfully led management teams during significant expansion periods at leading public and private real estate companies. This includes previous leadership positions at Columbia Property Trust, Tishman Speyer, and Trizec Properties.
Brian attended the University of Wisconsin as an Evans Scholar, majoring in Real Estate and Finance. He received an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University. Brian currently serves as President of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association and is a Director of the Economic Club of Washington DC, Co-Chair of the Capital Markets Committee at DCBIA and a member of The Urban Land Institute Washington District Advisory Board.
Eric M. Komppa
Colorado/Texas Regional Director
Eric Komppa joined Corum as Vice President of Investments. Eric’s responsibilities include sourcing, managing and procuring acquisitions and development opportunities for Corum. Prior to joining Corum, Mr. Komppa worked in Seattle for Bentall Kennedy, a pension advisory firm, where he completed $400 million in acquisitions on behalf of its clients in the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco Bay Area and Mountain States. His experience at Bentall Kennedy also included business development, assisting in raising of new capital and asset management on behalf of the firm’s largest separate account client. Eric received his bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Colorado in Boulder, after which he worked in acquisitions for Woodspear Properties in Denver, as well as for Essex Financial, arranging financing for commercial real estate projects. Eric also holds an MBA in real estate from the University of Wisconsin and is an active member in both Urban Land Institute and NAIOP.
Joe Lak, Jr.

Joseph F. Lak, Jr. is a Partner and Director of Colliers Internationals’ Corporate Solutions Practice Group, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Corporate Solutions focus’ on end user integration of the varied Colliers service lines including: Corporate Finance and Feasibility Analysis, Merger and Acquisition Consulting, Research, Lease Administration, Transaction Management, Project Management and integration with the Development, Architectural and Facilities Management Platforms. Joe is responsible for strategy and leadership of the Corporate Solutions business line.
Prior to joining Colliers, Joe was involved in the conservation side of real estate working for The Conservation Fund in their land acquisition department. Joe focused on grant allocation and procurement of large-scale land tracts. He received a BBA with a double major of Real Estate & Urban Land Economics and Management & Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2006 and studied European Economic Policy at Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany. Mr. Peek is a Senior Vice President with Waterton Associates, LLC, a national commercial real estate owner and operator. Throughout his tenure at Waterton, Mr. Peek has been responsible for the acquisition and disposition of over $1.7 Billion in multifamily properties nationwide, including equity and debt level transactions. Currently, Mr. Peek oversees the investment team in the Eastern region in the United States, and focuses on new business development opportunities.
Mr. Peek is a member of the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC), where he is Vice Chairman of the Tax Committee, and is Co-Founder and Vice Chairman for the NMHC Emerging Leaders Group. Mr. Peek is also a full member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), serving on the Multifamily Bronze Product Council, and serves on the Wisconsin School of Business Alumni Board of Directors. Mr. Peek is a past member of the Associate Board for Children’s Oncology Services, Inc.

Peter Deanovic II

Mr. Deanovic is a founding principal of Buhl Investors. His responsibilities encompass many phases of the investment process, including acquisitions, financings, and dispositions. Prior to joining Buhl, Deanovic was one of four investment managers that directed North American Real Estate investment activity for CarVal Investors. His commercial real estate experience spans multiple markets and product types.
Mr. Deanovic holds a B.B.A. in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He is an active board member of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, a regular speaker at IMN's Real Estate Private Equity conference and a former board member of Young Ambassadors for Opportunity, an international micro-finance organization.

Michael Zelin is a Senior Vice President in the Washington, D.C. office of Eastdil Secured. He specializes in debt placement and the financing of commercial assets across all product types. He joined Eastdil Secured in May 2007. Prior to joining Eastdil Secured, Michael was with Jones Lang LaSalle for 4 years and worked in JLL’s San Francisco, Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. Michael has nearly 15 years of commercial real estate experience and has participated in more than $25 billion in transactions. Since 2011 Dan Flattery has worked in San Francisco sourcing new investments for Northwestern Mutual’s $40 billion real estate portfolio. Target investments include debt and equity placements secured by core assets across all major property types. In this role Dan is responsible for the full origination process including fundamental market and property analysis, investment structuring, and oversight of the closing phase involving architectural, environmental, and title due diligence.
Prior to this role, Dan served in Northwestern Mutual’s underwriting group where he facilitated the review and approval of more than $3 billion of transactions consisting of mortgage loans (construction and permanent), acquisitions, and structured joint venture developments located in primary markets nationwide.
Dan attended the University of Wisconsin where he majored in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics and served on the board of the Real Estate Club. Dan is an active member the San Francisco real estate community participating in the Urban Land Institute, Belden Club, and serving as the Market Representative for the Northern California Region of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association prior to joining its Board of Directors.

Ms. Bergen is a Vice President at CenterSquare and joined the firm in 2011. Ms. Bergen is focused on growing CenterSquare’s relationships with institutional clients and consultants. She is responsible for fundraising and investor relations related to the firm’s various real assets strategies. Prior to taking on a role in capital markets, Ms. Bergen was a member of the real estate investment team with responsibilities in acquisitions and asset management. She began her career with Clarion/Samuels Associates, a real estate consulting firm based in Philadelphia. Ms. Bergen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Wisconsin with majors in Real Estate and Finance. Abby Cain is a Senior in EY’s Transaction Advisory Practice and a licensed Certified General Appraiser. Abby’s primary focus is on single asset and portfolio valuation, valuation review, market analysis, and financial due diligence. She is also skilled in building, manipulating, and auditing ARGUS models. She has personally valued over 200 commercial real estate assets worth over $2 billion including CBD office, suburban and medical office, industrial, business parks, retail shopping centers, multifamily and fractured residential condominium complexes, student housing, residential subdivisions, and other special use properties.
Prior to joining EY, Abby worked as a Senior Analyst at Integra Realty Resources, where she performed single asset and portfolio appraisals and valuations of all major asset classes throughout the United States for a variety of clients including banks, asset managers, private equity funds, insurance companies, and real estate investment funds.
Abby holds a B.B.A. in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is an active member of the Chicago Chapter of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni network and currently holds the position of At-Large Director - Recent Graduate on the WREAA Board of Directors. Abby is a candidate for designation of the Appraisal Institute and holds a Certified General Appraiser license in the state of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan.
